Speak the Truth in Love

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15

It is no secret that from a Christian perspective, our society in various ways is neglecting and rejecting the truth. This is seen all throughout our culture, for example, the truth about marriage, gender, human sexuality, and more that is found in the Scriptures is rejected and replaced by the subjective feelings and opinions of the world.

Unfortunately, silence has become for some Christians the answer for how they live so that they can escape the conflict that lies between the world and believers in Christ. In fact, there are a considerable number of Christians who are fearful to speak out and stand up for Biblical truth because of our culture’s heightened hostility toward Scriptural convictions.

However, if we are to be faithful followers of Christ it means that we are to fulfill our Biblical mandate to “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). We are called to speak truth lovingly and firmly to our society about all things.

If we as the Body of Christ are to do Christ’s work in the world then it is absolutely necessary for us to speak the truth in love even in times when it is not pleasant, easy, or convenient. Let us commit to impacting whatever realm of influence the Lord has given us by speaking the truth in love. The stakes are too high for American believers to remain silent at this crucial point in our nation’s history.

LET US PRAY…
Father, empower us to be Your voice in our state and nation to speak Your truth in love. Lord, may Your church never be characterized by silence or passivity. Father, help us to be bold and courageous as we take a public stand for You in our culture. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
