An Atrocious Vote

“You shall not murder.” – Exodus 20:13

Days ago, the U.S. House of Representatives took a vote on the highly important “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.” This bill makes clear that any child who survives an abortion or an attempted abortion is a legal human being deserving of protection.

Thus, the bill mandates that the child who survives an attempted abortion must be given the same degree of medical care from a medical provider that any other child born alive at the same gestational age would receive. It should be noted that this piece of legislation has nothing to do with abortion, it simply requires that a child born alive must receive life-saving care from medical professionals.

This should have been a non-controversial, bi-partisan, and unanimous vote by both the Republicans and the Democrats in the U.S. House. However, it was anything but that. Incomprehensibly, nearly every Democrat, 210 of them atrociously voted against this life-saving bill.

It is nothing short of a shocking reality that over 200 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives voted against a bill that would require life-saving medical assistance be given to vulnerable newborn children. Thankfully, this bill passed in the U.S. House and now awaits a vote in the U.S. Senate. This recent vote in the U.S. House serves as a reminder that there still remains much work to accomplish in order to cultivate a culture of life throughout our nation.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You that the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” was passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lord, please convict each and every U.S. Senator to see the necessity for this bill and to vote in favor of it. Father, empower us to be effective advocates to advance a culture of life throughout our nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
