Vatican Releases Statement on Human Dignity

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’” – Genesis 1:26

Earlier this month, the Vatican officially released a new document titled, “Dignitas Infinita” which brought further clarity on the views of the Roman Catholic Church on various issues of human dignity. The statement addressed numerous pressing moral issues in our world today such as abortion, surrogacy, gender theory, and sex change.

The Declaration has been in a strenuous reviewing process for five years at the Vatican, and recently in its final form was accepted by the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith and approved by Pope Francis. The document rightly condemned the murderous practice of abortion following the Church’s long history of being pro-life. The statement, furthermore, condemned practices related to surrogacy.

The Vatican’s document also addressed what it entitled “gender theory.” Courageously, the statement condemned transgender ideology, sex change procedures, and operations. According to the document, gender theory must be rejected as it degrades the dignity of human beings who have been made in the image of Almighty God.

The Vatican’s statement gets to the root of the issue of gender theory, and that is pride. It is pride that allows one to think that they can become their own little god and decide what sex they truly are. The document states, “Desiring a personal self-determination, as gender theory prescribes, apart from this fundamental truth that human life is a gift, amounts to a concession to the age-old temptation to make oneself God.”

Praise be to God, with the release of “Dignitas Infinita,” the Vatican has decisively brought further clarification on issues of human dignity to millions who are a part of the Roman Catholic Church.
