Somerset Church Suffers Severe Damage

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” – Romans 12:15

Cornerstone Baptist Church was started in 2019 in Pulaski County, and since that time the church’s pastor, Rev. Jamie Taylor, and the congregation have ministered to the city of Somerset and to the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, recently, the church’s building suffered tremendous damage from a raging fire that’s origins are still unknown.

The scene was heart-breaking according to witnesses. There was a blazing fire shooting out of the top of the roof which ultimately caused the roof to collapse. The ravaging fire was so extensive that it took eight different fire departments to fight it.

The Cornerstone church family has experienced great loss because of this fire. Worship leader Macy Witt shared what the church building has meant to so many when Whitt said, “It’s the building where Jesus changed a lot of lives.”

As we mourn with our brothers and sisters in Christ who make up Cornerstone Baptist Church and pray for them, it is important we remember that even in times of tribulation and trials our mandate and mission for the Lord never changes and that we must move forward for His Kingdom. Pastor Taylor is leading his people well at Cornerstone Church and reminding them of this truth when he stated recently, “We are not going to let this stop us. We are going to keep moving on and keep doing what God has called us to do.”
