2023 Legislative Session Concludes with Both Triumphs and Letdowns

“For the LORD your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” – Deuteronomy 20:4

The 2023 Kentucky legislative session is officially over, and it concluded with both triumphs and letdowns. The 2023 legislative session was an extremely monumental one that left our Commonwealth with positive and negative consequences.

One of the mountaintop moments during the session was the final passage of Senate Bill 150 which provides powerful protections for parental rights, student privacy, and bans extremely dangerous “transition procedure” interventions on children. Senate Bill 150 is truly one of the strongest bills in our nation safeguarding children from radical LGBTQ indoctrination in schools and in medicine.

Another victory during the session was the passing of House Bill 547 which provides religious freedom protections for teachers and other school staff based on Coach Kennedy’s massive win at the U.S. Supreme Court last year. The Family Foundation is extremely blessed and humbled to play such an integral part in these legislative victories.

Unfortunately, the 2023 legislative session also concluded with some letdowns. One of these setbacks was the passage of House Bill 551 which is the largest expansion of predatory gambling in Kentucky’s history. Another disappointment from the session was the passage of Senate Bill 47 which legalizes so-called “medical” marijuana and astonishingly allows its use for children and forces schools to allow use on campus.

Thanks be to God, for it is He who ultimately allowed the Commonwealth to experience these legislative victories. The Family Foundation is also deeply thankful for all of our supporters who have prayed and engaged as it made a major impact in getting God-honoring public policy passed this session!

LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for the incredible victories of the 2023 legislative session. Lord, thank You for the blessing of being able to represent You in our state. Father, please continue to bless our efforts in the future to pass legislation that honors You so that Kentucky may truly be a state where You are glorified. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
