Let Us Pray: Rep. Tate Files Human Development Educational Bill

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” – Psalm 139:13

Pro-life leader State Rep. Nancy Tate (R-Brandenburg) recently filed a notable and important bill, House Bill 359. HB 359 directs public schools in Kentucky to provide educational material to students in grades six and above on human growth and development.

Part of the required material directed by HB 359 would be a scientifically accurate computer animation video revealing the prenatal development of a human embryo in the womb. Rep. Nancy Tate filed variations of this bill in the past two legislative sessions, called the “Baby Olivia Act.”

The proposed legislation this year would allow videos like “Baby Olivia” and the sequel video called “Baby Oliver,” which was produced by the influential pro-life organization Live Action, to be used as the educational video required by HB 359.

These powerful videos provide a very detailed and real glimpse of a baby’s development in the womb from the point of fertilization to birth. “Baby Olivia” and other educational resources like it have inspired at least six states to pass laws requiring students in public schools to view the detailed prenatal development that takes place in the womb.

Lord willing, the Kentucky General Assembly will pass this legislation so that students across Kentucky can truly see that an embryo in the womb is a precious human being, even at the earliest stages of development. As the old idiom states, let us fervently pray that with HB 359, the “third time’s a charm!”

For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for Rep. Nancy Tate’s steadfast boldness in continually striving to pass this important bill. Lord, may each member of the Kentucky General Assembly vote in favor of House Bill 359. Father, we pray that this bill will be used powerfully throughout our public schools in Kentucky to enlighten our students to see that even at the earliest stages of an embryo’s development, a human person exists. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
