Parental Authority Under Threat

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4

The Bible teaches in an exceedingly comprehensible way that parents are commanded by the Lord to raise their child or children in His ways. Mothers and Fathers are to fervently protect their children from things displeasing to God and to bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Unfortunately, in an increasing manner, America is witnessing a growing threat to parental authority. These threats are directly trying to subvert parents from exercising their responsibility to raise their children in the truth of God’s Word.

Recently, Virginia legislator Elizabeth R. Guzman, Democrat of Prince William County, made news when she said that she intends to introduce a bill in the state legislature that would allow Virginia parents to face criminal charges if they do not affirm their child’s sexual orientation and gender identity. You read that right, parents who have children who identify as LGBTQ+ could be prosecuted for simply not affirming their child’s lifestyle which is classified as sinful in the Scriptures.

Here in our Commonwealth, we have seen parental authority threatened with the release of the Kentucky Department of Education’s toolkit that instructs public school teachers to keep parents in the dark about their children who identify as LGBTQ+. If parental authority is not protected in our nation, we will see the dire and grave consequences that follow from removing the Biblical authority parents have in raising their children in the ways of the Lord.

LET US PRAY…
Father, we pray that this bill that threatens parental authority will completely fall flat and have no movement in Virginia’s state legislature. Lord, empower parents all across our nation to raise their children in Your truth. Father, may Your Word be at the forefront in the homes of American families. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
