On Friday, June 12th, the San Francisco Giants used their game against the Chicago Cubs to host a “Pride Night.” It was a public spectacle celebrating the LGBTQ community, in which multiple LGBTQ performances were carried out. These performances included drag queen shows, same-sex couple ceremonies, and more.
During the game, the Giants’ players had to wear hats with the team’s logo in rainbow colors to celebrate “pride” month. Courageously, three Giants pitchers, Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker decided to publicly stand against this hijacking of the rainbow. Instead, they decided to remind everyone of the true meaning of the rainbow.
The pitchers had taken a silver marker to their black hats and wrote “Gen 9:12-16” next to the rainbow logo. This was a direct move to remind everyone that the rainbow is rooted in the Bible and is a sign of the covenant between God and man.
Major League Baseball officials have since issued a warning about future violations of the League’s uniform policy. MLB chief communications officer Pat Courtney said, “The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations.”
It’s suspicious that the League is now just stepping in and enforcing this policy. Over the last several years, multiple players have altered their uniforms in different ways, and the League never said a word about it. This has prompted Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO.) to demand answers from the MLB as he pointed out that the League has an “apparent pattern of discriminating against Christians while promoting left-wing ideologies.”
In any way we can, let’s follow the courageous actions of the Giants’ pitchers. We must reclaim the rainbow as the beloved covenant symbol that it is and stand against those who distort its meaning to glorify their sin.

Father, we praise You for the bold, strong, and courageous actions of these Giants’ players in their stance for You and Your truth. Lord, may the MLB change course in their obvious discrimination against Christians and their promotion of left-wing ideologies. Father, strengthen us to reclaim the rainbow as the covenant symbol that it is. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
