Let Us Pray

Gov. Beshear has a Choice (March 28, 2022)

“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15

Last week, the Save Women’s Sports Act (SB 83) and the Church is Essential Act (HB 43) were passed by the Kentucky General Assembly. They have now been delivered to Gov. Beshear, who has a choice to make.

The Save Women’s Sports Act prohibits forcing female athletes to compete against biological males. This law recognizes the biblical truth and biological reality that humans are created in the image of God, male and female (Genesis 1:27).

Regardless of what our society may say, biology matters… it matters to God and it should matter to us. Sports is one area where Truth and the consequences of ignoring it are on display for all to see. It’s the perfect place for us to take a stand and choose whom we will serve.

The Church is Essential Act recognizes the essential role churches play in our communities and would ensure that the government never again forces the Commonwealth’s churches to close their doors to those in need when other businesses and organizations are open. There is no reason that the church’s doors should be locked when big retail, liquor stores, and abortion clinics remain open for business.

Over the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic and its closure of churches across the Commonwealth has taken a toll on the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health of Kentuckians.

The gathering of Christ-followers serves a vital role in encouraging one another, building each other up, stimulating each other to love and good deeds, and allows us to hold fast to our hope… that’s exactly why God tells us not to forsake gathering together (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 10:24-25).

LET US PRAY…
Father, Gov. Beshear has a choice to make… please open his eyes to see that recent events have confirmed the truth of the principles You revealed to us in Scripture… let him see that biology matters and that the gathering of Christ-followers matters. May he sign these God-honoring bills into law. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
