Our nation has been deeply divided on multiple fronts for some time now, and this intense division is nowhere more evident than in our bitterly divided political climate. The political division in our country is currently being highlighted in the ongoing government shutdown.
Although America is in the midst of difficult times, specifically, politically, the Scriptures teach that God can use very difficult situations to bring about good for His people both individually and collectively. That Biblical truth is being exemplified in the current government shutdown.
America’s leaders cannot simply rely on their own intellect, knowledge, and understanding to bring healing to our troubled nation. The reality is, only by seeking the face of God will our leaders be given the divine direction, guidance, and wisdom that is desperately needed from God that will bring helpful answers to America’s deep problems.
Recently, during the complicated government shutdown, the House Freedom Caucus, in partnership with the Family Research Council, hosted a special prayer meeting where Congressmen and other national leaders sought the face of God for help during this time of struggle for America. The meeting, “Congress Prays for America,” was a powerful time of prayer where our governing leaders not only prayed for a solution to end the government shutdown, but also for spiritual healing throughout our broken nation.
To see a powerful move of God across our nation, this is where it must begin. God has promised to heal our land if we, as His people, will seek His face for national healing, turn from sinful ways, and humble ourselves. May we, as God’s people, live out 2 Chronicles 7:14, which states, “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for our governing leaders who have publicly revealed that only by seeking Your face in prayer will healing come to our land. Lord, may our governing leaders continuously and collectively gather to seek Your face for guidance and wisdom as they lead our nation. Father, may this government shutdown end soon, and may our broken nation experience Your healing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
