Another Win for Life

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” – Psalm 139:13

Since the fall of Roe, nearly one year ago, there have been numerous notable victories across the United States that provide protections for the dignity and sanctity of human life. Recently, from the state of North Carolina comes another win for the protection of human life.

The North Carolina General Assembly passed and then had to override Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto to enact Senate Bill 20 which is the “Care for Women, Children, and Families Act.” This vitally important pro-life bill will now save thousands of babies from having their lives terminated through egregious abortion procedures.

This piece of legislation will ban abortions in North Carolina on unborn babies starting at twelve weeks. Although the pro-life desire is to ultimately protect all unborn babies at the point of conception, the political climate in the North Carolina legislature prevented that from occurring. Nonetheless, the current law in North Carolina prohibits nearly all abortions after twenty weeks, this bill, however, moves the abortion ban up to twelve weeks which will lead to the saving of more lives from abortion.

Senate Bill 20 also prohibits mail-order abortion pills, protects abortion survivors, and more. In addition, this legislative measure provides 160 million dollars that will go to support children, families, and maternal health. Let us be encouraged by this news, the pro-life side is winning in the fight to protect the dignity and worth of every unborn child. However, there remains much work to accomplish until we see the day when abortion is an unthinkable horror that will forever remain in our nation’s past.

LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for this victory, the “Care for Women, Children, and Families Act,” in North Caroline that will protect human life. Lord, as the desire to protect human life is gaining momentum in our nation help us to be faithful and effective advocates for unborn children. Father, may one day our nation be one where all human life is valued and abortion is completely outlawed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
