The Kentucky primary took place on May 19, producing notable results at both the federal and state levels that set the stage for the Nov. 3 General Election. In the primary for U.S. Senate, Representative Andy Barr defeated Daniel Cameron and other candidates. He will face Charles Booker in the general election. Booker is a radical Leftist who supports abortion, gender “transition” for minors, and socialist policies like universal basic income.
As for the U.S. House, there were two notable races. In the 6th District, Ralph Alvarado, who was endorsed by President Trump and is a former Kentucky Senator, won a contested primary race. He will face Zach Dembo, who is pro-abortion, in the general election. Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein defeated conservative incumbent Thomas Massie in the 4th District, despite not publicly taking a position on many conservative issues, including abortion. He will face Melissa Strange, who is pro-abortion and pro-DEI, and Jeremy Todd, a pro-life Libertarian.
As for state elections, several pro-family leaders in Frankfort won their primaries. In the 10th House District, Representative Josh Calloway won his primary, defeating a pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ primary challenger. He will be facing Democrat John Whipple, who is also pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ. Representative Felicia Rabourn is another pro-family ally who won her primary in the 47th House District. She is currently unopposed, and we’re thankful she’ll continue to advocate for conservative policies in the 2027 General Assembly. An additional pro-family ally who emerged victorious was Steven Doan, who won his primary in the 69th House District. He faces Wilanne Stangel, a pro-abortion Democrat, in the general election.
As for the 63rd District, Cole Cuzick (pictured) is the newest state representative, having defeated incumbent Kim Banta by 13 votes. Cole is a former employee of The Family Foundation. During his time with TFF, he worked on several pro-family issues, including Kentucky’s campus free speech protection law and defending Christian counselors from attacks from LGBTQ advocates. Cuzick also previously worked for the Commonwealth Policy Center, organizing candidate trainings and advocating in favor of school choice efforts.
Cole is unopposed in his race in the general election, so he will be joining the General Assembly in January 2027.
