Ten Commandments monument restored in Monument Park. TFF's David Walls and Jesse Green share an important video update on the restoration of the historic monument.
FRANKFORT, KY – Today, the historic Ten Commandments monument given to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1971 by the Fraternal Order of Eagles has been restored to the Kentucky Capitol on the State Capitol grounds in Monument Park. This historic restoration comes as a result of the passage of the 2025 Regular Session’s House Joint Resolution (HJR) 15, authored by State Representative Shane Baker (R – Somerset). The Family Foundation was proud to support HJR 15’s passage during the 2025 General Assembly earlier this year.
HJR 15 passed the Kentucky Senate 32-6 and passed the House 79-13.

Statement from David Walls, Executive Director of The Family Foundation:
“We are thrilled to see the historic Ten Commandments monument returned to its proper place on the grounds of the Kentucky Capitol. I am grateful to State Rep. Shane Baker and the Kentucky House and Senate for passing HJR 15 to restore this important monument. The Ten Commandments has had an immense impact on American history and on the legal and moral principles that made our country and Commonwealth so strong throughout history. Today is a great day for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and I pray that the Lord will use this monumental and historic occasion to lead Kentuckians back to the Biblical principles and values that our society was built upon.”
Representative Shane Baker, sponsor of HJR 15, also said, “I am pleased to see this historic Ten Commandments monument returned to its rightful place. The Ten Commandments have widely recognized historical significance in the history of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the nation. This monument is part of an old tradition of public monuments and displays that acknowledge the Ten Commandments’ role in our heritage.”
