The United States and Israel, in a highly sophisticated joint military operation, successfully struck key locations across Iran, including Tehran, during the early morning hours on February 28, 2026. The operation directed strikes at specific Iranian locations such as nuclear-related sites, military installations, missile launch areas, and leadership compounds, in what has been named “Operation Epic Fury.”

President Trump ordered the operation after negotiations failed last week between his administration and the Iranian leadership, which were aimed at getting Iran to stop its efforts to develop nuclear weapons. According to U.S. Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Iran had claimed to have enough enriched uranium to make 11 nuclear bombs. Since the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution, Iran’s leaders have labeled the United States as the “Great Satan” and have claimed hundreds of American lives through state-sponsored terrorism, proxy warfare, and sporadic direct military clashes.

President Trump said the goal of the operation was to eliminate the imminent threat from Iran, destroy their missile industry, annihilate their navy, and he specifically called for Iranians to “seize this moment, be brave, be bold, be heroic and take back your country.” He went on to state on social media, “The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!”

It has now been verified that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the operation, along with many other top officials in the Iranian leadership. Operation Epic Fury is expected to carry on for days or weeks as Israel continues to target Iranian leadership while the U.S. strikes Iran’s ballistic missile areas that pose “imminent threats.” Sadly, at this point, several U.S. service members have been killed in the operation, along with others who have been seriously injured.

For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, please give Your supernatural wisdom and guidance to President Trump and his administration as they lead Operation Epic Fury. Lord, please use this joint operation to bring safety to the United States and our allies, as well as bring peace to the Middle East. Lord, may this operation liberate the people of Iran and may they use this moment to set up a fair and just government. Father, please bless America’s military members, especially those engaging in this operation, and please comfort the families of those who gave their lives in service to our nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Join us in praying for our elected leaders throughout  the 2026 Legislative Session!
