“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
On Tuesday, a heartbreaking tragedy took place at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. A UPS plane, an MD-11, lifted off and shortly after clearing the fence at the end of the runway crashed right off the airport’s property.
Investigators have determined that the deadly crash was caused by an engine becoming detached during takeoff. The crash has left at least twelve people dead as the ongoing emergency response teams work to locate any unaccounted-for people.
On Tuesday, the same day as the crash, due to the situation, Governor Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky. The Governor, speaking on declaring a state of emergency, said, “It allows us to move resources more quickly through emergency management and the Kentucky National Guard.”
In the coming days, let us commit to lifting up the families and friends of those who lost loved ones in this tragedy to the Lord in prayer.
LET US PRAY…
Father, please be close and give Your peace to those who are brokenhearted due to this awful tragedy. Lord, strengthen the emergency services working on the situation to find all of the unaccounted for. Father, thank You for saving those who are crushed in spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
