For the past forty-plus years, marriage rates have been in a continuous decline in America. The steady decline is across political lines, as conservatives and liberals alike have seen a decrease in marriage and fertility rates since the early 1980s.
Over the last decade, however, marriage, childbearing, and parenting have become a dividing line between young conservatives and liberals. There is a massive political divide among young conservatives and liberals, as research and a multitude of surveys have revealed that conservatives are more prone to prioritizing marriage and family, whereas liberals are likely to discount them.
In his recent analysis on this issue, which is titled “The Left’s Family Problem,” Brad Wilcox, a leading sociologist at the University of Virginia and a scholar at the Institute for Family Studies, wrote, “The Left has a family problem… Progressive messaging that devalues, denies and deconstructs the value of family life and celebrates solo living in recent years is leaving its mark on the hearts, minds, and lives of young liberals, especially young women on the Left.” There has been, for some time, an ideology that is running widespread throughout the younger American generations, which younger liberal women have adopted, that focuses on an individualist mindset, which insinuates that things like a career are more important than marriage and family.
The analysis went on to state that, “one reason liberal adults are less happy and more likely to report that they are lonely… is that they are less likely to be married with children.” The blunt reality is that the idea that life is all about oneself is an idea that will ultimately lead to a life of loneliness, regret, and emptiness. This mindset also, unfortunately, empowers the abortion cartel.
The Bible teaches that getting married, having children, and having a family is truly what will bring lasting joy and fulfillment in life. No career, status, or selfish desires will ever bring the blessings of the Lord into one’s life like marriage and children will.

Father, please enlighten younger Americans all across our nation to realize that marriage, childbearing, and parenting are blessings from You that are invaluable. Lord, empower Your people to portray the beauty of family to our culture. Father, may we have a younger generation defined by strong families and rooted in Your teachings. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
