“Marriage should be honored by all…” – Hebrews 13:4a
Exactly ten years ago, yesterday, the United States Supreme Court ruled to “legalize” same-sex “marriage” nationwide in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges. Many notable legal scholars and academics have voiced concern from the time of the Obergefell decision to now about how the decision was an absolute assault on our nation’s democratic process.
Also, the attempt to redefine marriage in the Obergefell decision was as impossible then as it is today ten years later. The Biblical truth about marriage is that God alone created the institution and that He alone has the authority to define what marriage is. It is utterly and wholly impossible for the Supreme Court to redefine marriage regardless of their attempted action to do so a decade ago.
In Genesis chapter one, the creation account, it is revealed that only when two complementary halves of humanity unite, one man and one woman, in the covenant of marriage, can the image of God in totality be presented to the world. To be frank, the image of God will never be seen in two men nor two women being in a fraudulent “marriage” relationship. Therefore, if the image of God cannot be redefined then it follows that the institution of marriage itself cannot be redefined.
It is also worth noting, we recently celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of the Dobbs decision. The United States Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was the monumental and historic decision to overturn the horrendous 1973 decision of Roe v. Wade that “legalized” abortion nationwide.
We praise God that an untold number of children have been saved from abortion because of this decision. The reality is, however, there is still much work to accomplish in the battle to protect human life.
LET US PRAY…
Father, thank You for the beautiful gift of marriage that You created. Lord, help our nation to honor You and Your design of marriage and respect the fact that it can never be redefined. Father, we praise You that Roe is no longer the law of the land here in the United States. Empower us, Lord, to stand strong for Your truth about marriage and in the battle to protect human life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
