“Keep my commands and follow them. I am the Lord.” – Leviticus 22:31
The Fraternal Order of Eagles, in 1971, donated a granite monument inscribed with the Ten Commandments to the state Capitol in Kentucky, where it was then displayed on the grounds. Years later, the Ten Commandments monument was put into a storage area, so that a construction project could take place. When the General Assembly attempted to return the monument in 2000, the ACLU successfully sued to block the reinstallation of the monument.
For twenty-five years, the six-foot-tall granite monument with the Ten Commandments on it stayed in storage instead of where it was supposed to be on the Capitol grounds. Thankfully, in the 2025 Kentucky General Assembly, Rep. Shane Baker filed HJR 15, which would restore the Ten Commandments monument to the KY Capitol grounds.
By a bipartisan vote in both chambers, HJR 15 was successfully passed in the Kentucky House and Senate. Praise be to God, on Wednesday, the historic Ten Commandments Monument was restored to its rightful place on the State Capitol grounds in Monument Park.
The Ten Commandments have an indisputable influence on American history and on our legal system, which has made our nation and state so strong. What a wonderful thing that on our Kentucky Capitol grounds, the Ten Commandments monument is on full display to remind us of the important role the Ten Commandments have had in our history.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we thank You for the courage of Rep. Baker in his leadership on getting HJR 15 passed through the Kentucky House and Senate. Lord, we are thankful that Your Commandments are now once again on full display on the Capitol grounds in Kentucky. Father, may we as a state obey Your commandments. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
