A few days ago, the United States Supreme Court made a major announcement that it has agreed to hear two important cases that center on state laws protecting girls’ sports. These two cases come from the states of Idaho and West Virginia.
In 2020, the Idaho state legislature passed the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” to protect girls’ sports from being infiltrated and destroyed by biological males who identify as “transgender females.” In this same manner, to also protect girls’ sports in The Mountain State, the West Virginia state legislature passed the “Save Women’s Sports Act” in 2021.
Unfortunately, over the last few years, transgender activists have targeted these laws by challenging them in court. Sadly, activist judges struck down both of these laws—the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit ruling against the West Virginia law, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit halting Idaho’s law from going into effect.
Due to these rulings, Idaho and West Virginia, with the help of attorneys from Alliance Defending Freedom, were forced to petition the High Court to hear the cases, and, thankfully, it has agreed to do so. The Supreme Court’s decision on these state laws will likely have far-reaching implications across the country, including here in Kentucky, on whether or not states can protect girls’ sports from biological males invading and destroying female athletics.

Father, we praise You that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear these very important cases. Lord, strengthen those arguing in front of the Court on behalf of these laws to protect girls’ sports, so that they may be persuasive and precise. Father, please empower the Supreme Court to rule correctly in this case and uphold Idaho’s and West Virginia’s state laws that protect girls’ sports. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
