Let Us Pray: School "Transitions" Daughter Behind Parent's Back

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

There is a very important parental rights case presently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which covers the states of Connecticut, New York, and Vermont. The case centers on the situation at Skaneateles Central School District in New York where employees tried to socially “transition” a student without the permission or knowledge of the student’s parents.

Specifically, school district employees called a biological girl, who is the daughter of Jennifer Vitsaxaki, by a name and by pronouns that do not correlate with the girl’s biological sex. For months, the school’s shameful behavior continued in the dark before Mrs. Vitsaxaki finally found out about the situation.

Mrs. Vitsaxaki responded to the disgraceful actions of the school by withdrawing her daughter from the district and filing a lawsuit against it. The lawsuit claims that the Skaneateles Central School District violated the Vitsaxakis’ parental rights, which are protected by the Fourteenth Amendment, and their First Amendment right of religious liberty.

Sadly, the district court dismissed the lawsuit, claiming that the school’s actions did not violate Mrs. Vitsaxaki’s constitutional rights. The lawsuit has now progressed to the Second Circuit, and in an effort to defend parental rights, The Family Foundation has signed onto an amicus “friend of the court” brief with other family policy council allies from across the nation in the case.

The brief argues that “the right of parents to direct the upbringing and care of their children is a fundamental right protected by the Fourteenth Amendment.” Parents, not the government or anyone else, have been mandated by Almighty God to raise their children in the ways of the Lord, and hopefully, the Second Circuit will rule in favor of the Vitsaxakis and uphold that truth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, please empower the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to rule in favor of the Vitsaxakis in this case, upholding their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Lord, please protect students across our nation from being exploited like this young girl by school districts that want to promote transgender ideology. Father, strengthen parents across our nation to lead and guide their children in Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
