New York Attorney General Letitia James has a troubling pattern of behavior, where she uses her powerful position to target political opponents. Recently, she has taken aim at Jason McGuire, who is the head of the New York Families Foundation, which is an allied family policy council to The Family Foundation.
Over the last three years, NY AG James has spent a considerable amount of time conducting a politically-motivated fishing expedition against McGuire and the New York Families Foundation. Her reasoning? Because McGuire opposed her pro-abortion, anti-life agenda. Speaking of the situation, McGuire stated, “Letitia James weaponized her office to target me because I dared to speak against her radical, pro-abortion policies.”
Throughout the investigation, James harassed McGuire, his family, his coworkers, and even donors to the New York Families Foundation. In the end, James manufactured a case over three minor omissions on a campaign finance report unrelated to New York Families. In order to avoid a long, expensive, and political legal battle, McGuire with the advise of counsel agreed to a plea deal for two misdemeanors, expecting to pay a small fine at most.
Instead, a New York Judge decided to make an example of McGuire and the New York Families Foundation by sentencing him to eight weekends in jail—an unprecedented punishment for such minor violations. It is truly a sad day that in America, there are some who are in powerful positions and will use those seats of authority to target those who have a different worldview than their own. Jason McGuire’s case is a reminder that we cannot give up the fight for our freedoms because the enemies of liberty and justice are looking for any opportunity they can get to take those freedoms away.

Lord, please strengthen our family policy ally, the New York Families Foundation, to stand strong for You no matter the attacks they endure. Father, help us remember that we are blessed when we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
