“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” – Genesis 2:24
The institution of marriage is at the very heart of a thriving, well-functioning, and prosperous society. God ordained marriage as society’s foundational institution, and as the ideal union to raise, guide, and care for children in the supervision and protection of their loving mother and father.
Sadly, over a decade ago, this most basic institution was greatly attacked by the Obergefell decision, a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling which sought to invalidate state marriage laws and imposed, by judicial fiat, same-sex “marriage” nationwide. Since this ruling, children have been robbed of their God ordained family structure.
Intending to ultimately overturn the Obergefell decision, The Family Foundation has joined the campaign of “Greater Than,” which is a coalition of more than 43 other state and national organizations to see the egregious decision reversed. The Family Foundation joins a movement of many influential organizations, such as Them Before Us, the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, the American Family Association, Live Action, and many more.
The misguided Obergefell decision invented a fictional constitutional right to same-sex “marriage,” which has played out to be nothing less than disastrous. The Greater Than campaign believes that children’s needs are greater than adult desires and ambitions. Being raised by both, a mother and a father, is essential for a child’s stability, identity, safety, and flourishing. No child should have that right ripped away from them because of adult desires that trample on a child’s well-being.
For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.
LET US PRAY…
Father, empower our leaders to push for a return to Biblical marriage here in Kentucky and across the United States. Lord, may the U.S. Supreme Court one day overturn the deeply misguided Obergefell decision. Father, strengthen Your people in this important campaign to promote the truth about marriage in our culture, which is only between one man and one woman, and is the foundational institution of our society. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
