Let Us Pray: Numerous States Pass Prenatal Development Education Laws

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” – Psalm 139:13

Live Action, an influential pro-life advocacy organization, has produced a scientifically accurate computer animation video revealing the prenatal development of an embryo in the womb. The video is called “Baby Olivia,” and it was developed by a panel of medical doctors who are experts in embryonic and fetal development.

“Baby Olivia” provides a very detailed and real glimpse of a baby’s development in the womb from the point of fertilization to birth. “Baby Olivia” and other educational resources like it have inspired six states to pass laws requiring students in public schools to view the detailed prenatal development that takes place in the womb.

The six states that have passed these types of laws include Idaho, Kansas, North Dakota, Tennessee, Indiana, and Iowa. Similar legislation has been introduced in numerous other states as well, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and even in our Commonwealth.

Rep. Nancy Tate has introduced similar bills during the last two sessions, but unfortunately, the legislation has stalled with House leadership refusing to advance the bills. There is no doubt that many lives will be saved from the murderous act of abortion if scientific educational videos such as “Baby Olivia” were viewed by every public high school student. Once one truly grasps the reality that an embryo is not just a collection of cells, but rather a real human being, it changes everything.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we thank you for the states that have passed Baby Olivia laws, for Rep. Nancy Tate’s introduction of prenatal development education bills in the Kentucky General Assembly, and for her courageous defense of human life. Lord, we pray that the Kentucky General Assembly will pass such a law in this next session. Father, empower us to be a strong defense for human life in every way that we can. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
