Let Us Pray

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” – Genesis 2:24

In 2013, the then Senatorial candidate for the state of Wyoming, Liz Cheney, was very public about her opposition to same-sex marriage. Her stance in opposition to same-sex marriage caused a rift within Cheney’s own family, causing conflict between her and her sister, Mary, who was public about her own lesbian relationship.

In a recent “60 Minutes” interview, however, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) has now changed course and fully supports same-sex marriage. Cheney stated, “I was wrong. I was wrong. It’s a very personal issue — and very personal for my family. I believe that my dad was right. And my sister and I have had that conversation … Freedom means freedom for everybody.”

American society at large has the same sentiment and misunderstanding about marriage as Rep. Cheney does. The majority of Americans, including the U.S. Supreme Court, believe it is within their authority and freedom to decide what marriage is. The reality is that the definition of marriage is not up for debate, never has been and never will be.

The inventor of the institution of marriage was not the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court, or any one person’s opinion. God, Himself, is the creator of marriage and He designed marriage perfectly in His wisdom as a covenant bond between one man and one woman.

Collectively, America today thinks they know how marriage could operate better than God does. Many today have the audacity to think they have the wisdom to redefine the definition of marriage that God instituted. This places America in a very dangerous position before the Lord, in which, America thinks its wisdom is above God’s.

LET US PRAY . . .
Father, thank You, for Your wonderful and perfect creation of marriage. Father, help Americans to adhere to Your standard for marriage and family. Forgive our nation, Father, for thinking its wisdom is above Yours. Please help Americans to see that our nation will flourish if we will return to Your truth about marriage, life, and sexuality. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
