“All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” – Psalm 119:160
We live in a world where truth is thought of by many as being subjective and mutable. Large segments of our culture believe that what is true is determined by an individual alone, based on how they feel, think, or view something.
For example, many people today insinuate that marriage can be a subjective union that can be more than just a man and a woman; people today believe they can determine when human life begins, others think that one’s biological makeup is debatable and that one can choose their gender, and more. The concept that much of our culture has adopted is that one can simply live out one’s “truth.”
From a Biblical perspective, however, it is clear that there is such a thing as objective truth, and we can understand that truth through the Bible’s teachings. To be blunt, there is no such thing as your truth or my truth; there is only the truth, the objective Biblical truth. A society that operates by choosing one’s own subjective truth and living by it is a society that becomes engulfed in confusion, chaos, and disorder. A culture flourishes when it aligns its laws, governance, and standards in accordance with objective moral truth.
Only by living in the truth that God has revealed to us in His Word can we individually and collectively as a society experience the height of God’s blessings. Fighting against God’s truth on issues such as marriage, life, gender, and more by defining truth for oneself only leads to hardship in life, as God knows what is best for his creation. As believers in Christ, if we want to experience the height of God’s blessings, it means that we must live in accordance with Biblical truth, advocate relentlessly for it, and never retreat from it.
LET US PRAY…
Father, thank You for revealing the truth to us in Your Word. Lord, empower us to live in accordance with Your truth so that we may glorify You and also experience Your blessings personally and collectively as a nation. Father, strengthen us to never retreat on Your truth in our culture. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
