Let Us Pray

National Day of Prayer

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16b

Prayer is extremely powerful, unfortunately, too often in the Christian life prayer is viewed as a last resort and is simply neglected. What makes prayer so powerful is not the one who is praying, but rather the One who is being prayed to. Prayer is so powerful because as Christians we are allowed to go straight to God who is infinitely able to answer any request, we bring to Him.

Thankfully, as a nation, we set aside a day each year to focus on prayer to Almighty God for our country. The United States, since 1952, has annually observed the National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday in May.

All across America, and across our Commonwealth, today, there will be public gatherings at City Halls, Courthouses, churches, and other venues to pray to God for our nation. Members of The Family Foundation team will be attending various prayer gatherings throughout the state and encourage you to do the same.

The theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer comes from James 5:16b and it is, “Pray Fervently in Righteousness and Avail Much.” In connection with the theme, the National Day of Prayer team correctly writes, “We have boldness and conviction to Pray for America because the Word of God teaches us that our FERVENT PRAYERS are EFFECTIVE and that our Loving God responds to His children’s EARNEST PLEAS in MIGHTY WAYS that AVAIL MUCH!”

Let us today fervently plead with God through prayer to bless and heal our federal government, state government, local government, military, media, business, education, family, and more. Let us pray with sure confidence while remembering God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

LET US PRAY…
Father, thank You for the incredible blessing You have given to us to be able to go directly to You in prayer. Lord, please heal every facet of our land and bless our nation. Father, may Your Name be lifted high today and honored all across America. Father, may America truly be a shining city on a hill in our lost and dark world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
