Let Us Pray

“Abstain from every form of evil.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:22

The Mayor of Lexington, Linda Gorton who is a registered Republican, is actively campaigning and seeking re-election for the office she currently holds.

Throughout this campaign, the issue of abortion has become a focal point that has been discussed between Gorton and her opponent, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Councilman David Kloiber, who is a Democrat.

Abortion has become one of the issues that these campaigns have been focused on because Amendment 2, the “Yes for Life” Amendment will be on the ballot this November. If favorably voted on, the Amendment would effectively outlaw abortion in Kentucky.

Recently, while speaking at a candidate forum at the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center in Lexington, Ky., Mayor Gorton, unfortunately, urged the public to vote against the “Yes for Life” Amendment. Mayor Gorton, who is also a registered nurse said, “Health care decisions should be between a patient and a doctor.” Furthermore, she stated, “The government has no business in that exam room. That is why on Nov. 8 I am voting ‘No’ on Amendment 2 and I want you to do the same.”

It is an absolute shame that as a nurse Mayor Gorton is promoting abortion, as it has been medically and scientifically revealed that abortion is the termination of innocent life. The desire to retain political power, at least in this case, has led the Mayor to promote a distinct form of evil, abortion.

LET US PRAY…
Father, may we as Your people abstain from every form of evil, including that of promoting abortion in any way. Lord, help us to be winsome advocates for life by earnestly urging those around us to vote “Yes for Life.” Father, we pray that You will be glorified and honored on November 8th, regarding Amendment 2. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
