Let Us Pray: KY Rep. Wants White Students to Feel Bad

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5

Days ago, Kentucky state Representative Sarah Stalker (D), who represents District 34 in Louisville, made highly concerning remarks during an Interim Joint Committee on Education meeting in defense of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in Kentucky’s public schools. Her comments focused predominantly on skin color and how being white is a “point of privilege.”

Rep. Stalker said, “I’m going to be honest… I don’t feel good about being white every day, for a lot of reasons.” She continued saying, “If I was a white man, I would be functioning from a point of even greater privilege.” Stalker made it clear that she thinks that Kentucky’s white students in public schools need to be made aware of their “privilege” in the world, and how this so-called “privilege” is only due to their skin color.

Stalker’s statements, which have been seen by millions on twitter, came in response to Kentucky state Senator Lindsey Tichenor (R), who represents the 6th District. Senator Tichenor discussed a bill draft to end all DEI programs in Kentucky’s public schools. This bill would build upon the successes of HB 4 from 2024, which banned DEI in public colleges and universities.

Rep. Stalker’s opinion on individuals who are white needing to feel bad about their skin color is completely foreign to Biblical teachings on humanity. Each person should cherish the way that God has specifically created them, as He has created us all for an individualized good and noble purpose. His creation of each person for a wonderful plan and purpose includes all aspects of our beings, which, without a doubt, includes skin color and gender.

DEI programs are designed to create division, dividing people on issues of skin color, gender, religion, and more. Kentucky’s K-12 public schools must ban and defund these harmful programs, which divide students much than than unifying them.

LET US PRAY…

Father, thank You for creating each one of us in a specific and individual way for a good purpose in Your all-wise plan. Lord, may DEI programs in our public schools here in Kentucky be completely stamped out through legislative action. Father, help us to be faithful advocates for Your truth in our culture. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
