“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
On Friday, a series of severe storms swept across the South and Midwest, once again leaving Kentucky battered in the aftermath. A deadly tornado developed out of the storms and specifically devastated the Kentucky counties of Pulaski, Russell, and Laurel.
Heartbreakingly, the ravaging storms killed 18 Kentuckians and left another 10 hospitalized in critical condition. At least 27 people were killed across the South and Midwest regions where the violent storms hit.
Across our Commonwealth homes have been destroyed, businesses have been wrecked, many are without water and power, and numerous Kentuckians have been left homeless. This is just the latest series of deadly storms that have recently pounded our beloved state over recent months.
To be direct, Kentuckians are weary as it seems that once a destructive series of storms passes through another series of storms is on the horizon barreling down toward our Commonwealth. May our state as a collective whole seek the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, as He alone can give us perfect peace and rest during this difficult time.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we lift up those who have lost loved ones in the latest series of storms that hit our state just days ago and we pray that You will give them Your peace. Lord, we pray that You will be with the victims of these storms who have lost their homes, businesses, possessions, and more. Father, remind us that although life can be challenging and difficult You provide rest for those who come to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
