Let Us Pray

Illuminate the World

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

It is a troubling reality, but we must come to grips with the fact that our culture is engulfed with immorality, wickedness, and iniquity of all kinds. With just a brief observation of our society, one can see the extreme spiritual darkness that has inundated our land.

Throughout human history, spiritual darkness has plagued the world because sin has infected every aspect of life due to man’s rebellion against God in the garden (Genesis 3). To combat the darkness, our Lord calls us to illuminate the world for His glory and honor (Matthew 5:14-16).

Jesus commands us to “let our light shine before others.” This is a calling to be a beacon of truth to the world around us. In this world, believers are not called to go along with the crowd when we should go against the grain, remain silent when we should speak, or hide our light when we should let it shine.

Letting our light shine before others means taking a public stand for Christ in all aspects of our lives. We are to let our light shine so that “others may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.” It brings God glory when we publicly take a stand for His truth. May we resolve to let our light shine brightly for the Lord in this Legislative Session as we publicly and without apology advocate for God-honoring legislation in our Commonwealth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, empower us to truly allow our light to shine brightly for You in every facet of our lives. Lord, help us to realize the truth that we are never to live a life in hiding for You, but rather You have called us to live a public life to bring You honor. Father, may our light shine powerfully in the Legislative Session for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
