In 2022, the Biden administration issued mandates to pharmacies that received federal funds that they must keep in stock and dispense abortion drugs, which are more accurately called abortion death pills. In 2023, following a court’s ruling in favor of religious pharmacies, the mandates were weakened, but remnants of them lingered, which still threatened pharmacies across the nation to possibly have to sell the abortion drugs.
Days ago, however, an action from the Trump administration’s U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) relieved American pharmacies from this unreasonable and looming threat. The HHS has officially revoked the Biden-era guidance that forced pharmacies across the country to keep on hand and distribute the life-ending drugs.
This decision by the HHS was greatly needed so that pharmacies can freely, without threats, return to the purpose for which they even exist. The mission of a pharmacy is to provide medicines that enhance, heal, and restore the person in need. Not to be places that dispense pills of destruction, demise, and death.
There is no doubt that this is a commendable action by the Trump administration. However, it is also true that there is so much more that can be done by the administration to protect life, including seeing that the FDA revokes authorization of the abortion death pill all together. Lord willing, many more decisions like this one will follow at the federal and state levels, including the Kentucky General Assembly acting this legislative session to strengthen state laws surrounding the illegal trafficking of the abortion death pill here in Kentucky.
For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for this decision by the HHS to revoke the Biden-era guidance that forced pharmacies across the nation to sell the abortion drug. Lord, please empower President Trump and his administration to do even more to protect life. Father, help us to be effective advocates for human life in every avenue possible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Join us in praying for our elected leaders throughout the 2026 Legislative Session!
