The Super Bowl has long created a massive platform for companies, organizations, and movements to televise new advertisements promoting their products or causes. One of the ads that was televised in this year’s Super Bowl that has garnered a large amount of attention was the “He Gets Us” ad.
Although the “He Gets Us” ad was likely well-intentioned many Christians believe that the commercial failed to present the Gospel message with clarity or accuracy. Furthermore, the ad according to others, was too politicized with a left-leaning bias and seemed to disregard some sins, like abortion and sexual immorality.
In response, and in hopes of presenting the Gospel more clearly, Pastor Jamie Bambrick of Hope Church Craigavon in Northern Ireland recently posted a video to social media titled, “He Saves Us”, that has garnered millions of views. The video began with celebrity Kat Von D who was deeply involved in witchcraft but abandoned it when she trusted in Christ and was baptized. Her part of the video was accompanied by the words “former witch.
The ad shows person after person who abandoned a former lifestyle of sin to embrace the Gospel message and trust in Jesus. Pastor Bambrick gets it right when he states “Jesus doesn’t just get us. He saves us. He transforms us. He cleanses us. He restores us. He forgives us. He heals us. He delivers us. He redeems us. He loves us.”
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for Pastor Bambrick’s desire and devotion to publicly reveal the truth of the Gospel. Lord, help us to be faithful messengers of Your truth and the salvation that only You can provide. Father, thank You for cleansing us of all of our sins when we come to You in faith and repentance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
