“He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.” – 2 Peter 3:16

On Monday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear made an appearance on The View, where he discussed multiple issues with the hosts. During the interview, he reverted to one of his favorite tactics, treating the Scriptures like a buffet line where you choose what you want and ignore all the rest.
On the show, Gov. Beshear, once again, attempted to twist Bible verses to support the LGBTQ worldview. He attempted to cherry-pick a couple of teachings from the Bible to condemn Senate Bill 150 from 2023, which protects kids from transgender mutilating procedures in Kentucky.
He told the co-hosts on The View, “Most of the decisions I make are based on that Golden Rule that says we love our neighbor as ourselves, and that parable of the Good Samaritan that says everyone is our neighbor.” He further said, “And so, when I’ve taken actions like vetoing the nastiest piece of anti-LGBTQ legislation that ever came through my state, I described it in those terms. I said my faith teaches me that all children are children of God, and I didn’t want people picking on those kids.”
This must be stated with absolutely no ambiguity. When Gov. Beshear appeals to his “faith,” he is not appealing to the historic, orthodox Christian faith, “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). He is appealing to a “faith” of his own making, one that intentionally twists the Scriptures to support LGBTQ ideology, which the Bible clearly defines as sinful.
To truly fulfill our Biblical command to love one’s neighbor (Matthew 22:39), we must speak the truth to those around us, hoping they will abandon the lies of this world and follow the truth. It also means wanting the very best for them, which can only come by following the ways of the Lord.
To love our neighbor, one must desire and act in ways that help those around us flourish. This certainly cannot include destructive transgender procedures like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone therapy, and mutilating surgeries for children that lead to lifelong damage and pain. If Gov. Beshear wants to support and promote the LGBTQ worldview, although it is a completely faulty ideology, that’s one thing, but he should cease and desist from trying to support it with the Bible. In his support for mutilating children, he is mutilating the word of God for his own harmful political agenda.
For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.
LET US PRAY…
Father, help us to love our neighbor enough to confront the lies of the world and present them with Your truth. Lord, please convict Gov. Beshear for his blatant misrepresentation of Your Word and bring him to repentance. Father, strengthen us to defend Your Word in our culture effectively and courageously. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Join us in praying for our elected leaders throughout the 2026 Legislative Session!
