Let Us Pray

Let Us Pray: God Will Not Be Mocked

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7

On Friday evening, the 2024 Olympics held its opening ceremony in Paris which soon thereafter caused a firestorm to erupt. The controversy ensued in large part due to a very disturbing portion of the ceremony that attempted to imitate the famous artwork called, “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci.

The sacred moment of the Last Supper is recorded in the New Testament, in the Synoptic Gospels, where it details the last meal our Lord had with His disciples before He was crucified on the cross to pay for the sins of the world. Christianity, to this very day, partakes in Holy Communion, which is a prominent aspect of the faith that stems all the way back to the Last Supper.

Outrageously, at the opening ceremony, drag queens and other actors grossly mocked Christianity by mimicking the Last Supper. Catch what happened here, drag queens who represent what the Scriptures would label as sinful perversion, are making a clear mockery of the Last Supper where Christ eats with His disciples for the last time as He anticipates giving His body and blood for the sins of the world.

This clearly reveals where our world is today spiritually, as there seems to be no fear of God in our postmodern culture. Those who mock God need to understand how fearful of a place that is, as God has promised that He will not be disrespected or dishonored and that there will be punishment for mocking that which is holy (Zephaniah 2:10).

LET US PRAY…

Father, thank You for sending Your Son to pay for our sins on the cross so that we may experience eternal life with You. Lord, help us to remain strong in You as our world lacks the healthy fear of God. Father, may we be Your conduits to make Your Name known throughout the world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
