Let Us Pray: Final Victory for Dr. Josephson, Free Speech, and Children

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57

Dr. Allan Josephson formerly served for many years as the division chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Louisville. His career was brought to an abrupt end in 2019 after he spoke at the Heritage Foundation where he dared to speak against so-called “gender-affirming” care.

On a panel at the event, Dr. Josephson simply suggested that minors who experience gender dysphoria cannot be treated by drugs and surgery. He suggested the need for an exploration into the root causes of gender dysphoria instead of rushing children into transgender procedures. Unfortunately, almost immediately after the Heritage event, university leadership targeted Dr. Josephson due to his views being in conflict with their pro-transgender ideology.

University leadership retaliated against Dr. Josephson by harassing him, followed up by demoting him, and ultimately by firing him. In order to defend Dr. Josephson’s Freedom of Speech, attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom represented him and filed a lawsuit on his behalf against the university. Praise be to God, in March of 2023, a federal district court ruled in Dr. Josephson’s favor and then the case ended up at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit which, thankfully, also ruled in his favor.

The case was then sent back to a district court for a hearing on the merits of Dr. Josephson’s claims against university officials. Days ago, University of Louisville officials agreed to pay nearly $1.6 million in damages and attorneys’ fees to settle the lawsuit. This is a final victory and vindication for Dr. Josephson, the Freedom of Speech, and children across America.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for this final victory and vindication for Dr. Josephson, the Freedom of Speech, and children across America. Lord, we praise You for the courage of Dr. Josephson and pray that many more medical professionals will speak the truth about human sexuality. Father, help us to be faithful to You no matter what it may cost us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
