The state of Massachusetts is currently head-deep in a foster care crisis where more than 1,500 children are desperately in need of a safe home and family. In fact, the crisis has become so dire that the state has ended up housing children in hospitals until permanent housing can be found.
In hopes of helping, Mike and Kitty Burke, who are devout Catholics, and hold to an orthodox Christian view on marriage and human sexuality, not long ago applied to become foster care parents to provide a loving home for needy children. The Burkes went through hours of training, thorough interviews, and evaluations of their home, physical health, and life in general.
Unbelievably, regardless of the fact that the Burkes met all of the requirements needed, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) refused the couple’s application to become foster parents. The DCF refused the Burkes’ application because of their religious beliefs, specifically their Christian views about marriage and human sexuality. In response, the Burkes have filed a complaint in federal court against the DFC’s decision to refuse their foster care application.
This is just another case of a state abusing its power and discriminating against those who hold to the Biblical teachings about marriage and human sexuality. Vulnerable children need to be cared for and the state needs to allow couples like the Burkes to provide a solid home for these children instead of using these needy children to advance LGBTQ+ propaganda.

Father, thank You for incredible couples like the Burkes who desire to care for vulnerable and needy children by providing them with a safe home. Lord, empower the court to rule rightly in the Burkes case, and may this religious discrimination against those who hold to Biblical truth stop. Father, please help our nation return to Your truth about marriage and human sexuality. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
