“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4
On March 28, 2025, House Bill 25-1312 was introduced in the Colorado state legislature. To say that this bill is a concerning piece of legislation would be a colossal understatement.
HB 25-1312 is also known as the “Kelly Loving Act,” and the bill focuses on expanding the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act. The expansion to Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act specifically comes from including “misgendering” and “deadnaming” as acts of discrimination.
Beyond the serious issues with transgender ideology that this bill exemplifies, the reality is, however, that this bill is a direct assault on parental rights in the state of Colorado. If Colorado parents do not use their child’s “preferred pronouns” they will be legally guilty of acts of discrimination, specifically “misgendering” and “deadnaming.” Unbelievably, these so-called acts of “discrimination” could jeopardize parental custody.
Sadly, the Colorado House passed HB 25-1312 on April 6th, and the Colorado Senate passed the bill just days ago on May 6th. The Kelly Loving Act now sits on Governor Polis’s desk awaiting his signature.
This situation reminds us, that believers in Christ cannot remain silent but must be actively involved in influencing our culture for righteousness which in part means being actively involved in public policy and the laws that govern us. Heartbreakingly, Colorado families are directly under threat right now with the likely possibility of HB 25-1312 becoming law.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we pray that Governor Polis will be able to clearly see this bill for what it is and have the courage to veto it. Lord, we pray for Colorado families and parents as they are currently under a very serious threat to parental authority. Father, empower believers across our nation to get involved in public policy to stop bills like this one. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
