Let Us Pray: Chip & Joanna Gaines Promote Homosexuality in New Series

“In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.” – Romans 1:27

The popular and influential couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, who are known for Fixer Upper and more, have launched a new series titled “Back to the Frontier.” In this series, three couples will be featured as their families leave their modern lives behind to embark on off-the-grid living in Alberta, Canada, for eight weeks, adopting 1800s homesteading practices.

The new series, however, has caused a firestorm to erupt as the Gaineses, who have been very public about their Christian faith, are using the platform to promote a gay couple as one of the three couples who will be followed in the wilds of the Alberta Province. The gay couple in the show – Joe Riggs and Jason Hanna – have publicly stated that the series is “a great, amazing opportunity to normalize same sex couples and same sex families.”

It must be noted, beyond the problem of celebrating sexual perversion, that there is nothing natural or worth honoring about two young children being under the “parental” care of Joe Riggs and Jason Hanna. God’s intended plan for every child is to have a mother and a father, as each offer distinct and needed parental characteristics. In response to this controversy, Chip Gaines has publicly stated, “listen … maybe even learn” and “Don’t judge.”

What the Gaineses need to understand is that for the believer in the Lord, one who is committed to the Word of God, it is not a subjective judgment to say that homosexuality is a sin and should not be celebrated. Scripture has already rendered the judgment that homosexuality is a sin (1 Cor. 6:9), and when Christians state that truth, they are simply repeating what God has already objectively judged as sin. Let’s hope that the Gaineses will take to their own advice and “listen … maybe even learn” from what Christians are saying that sin never needs to be celebrated.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for the beauty of marriage and the family that You have so wonderfully created. Lord, please open the eyes of the Gaines’ that homosexuality is nothing to platform or celebrate. Father, empower us as Your people to always stand strong for Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
