Let Us Pray

Big Win for KY Students

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Days ago, the Kentucky General Assembly delivered a big win for Kentucky students with the final passage of House Bill 1. This legislation opts Kentucky into a new federal educational funding program, which was established last year when the U.S. Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

House Bill 1 allows qualified participants to make donations to a scholarship-granting organization (SGO). People who make donations will receive up to a $1,700 federal tax credit. The SGO dollars will go to fund numerous scholarship opportunities for public, private, and homeschooling students.

Depending on the structure of the SGO’s, the funds could go toward things like tutoring, technology, transportation, special needs programs, instructional materials, and other qualified educational expenses. This bill will in no way impact the state funds collected for public school education here in Kentucky.

This bill will only increase the opportunities for students, in Kentucky, whether they are in public schools, private schools, or even homeschooled. House Bill 1 heads to Governor Beshear’s desk, and it is of the utmost importance that he signs this bill into law so that all Kentucky students may have additional opportunities for success.

For our “Let Us Pray” devotionals during the 2026 KY General Assembly, we will be taking time during the legislative session to encourage you to pray, by name, for our elected leaders (see below). Let us commit to praying regularly for our Kentucky governmental leaders to act in ways that bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and are a blessing to our Commonwealth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for the final passage of House Bill 1 that will provide numerous opportunities for Kentucky students, which will lead to better student success. Lord, we pray that Governor Beshear will sign this bill into law. Father, may these new scholarship opportunities for Kentucky students, whether they be in public schools, private schools, or homeschooled, be a blessing to our students in the Commonwealth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Join us in praying for our elected leaders throughout  the 2026 Legislative Session!
