At the end of Capital Avenue in Frankfort, KY, on the east lawn of the Kentucky State Capitol, sits the historic Kentucky Governor’s Mansion. Since 1914, the mansion has served as the official residence of the Governor of Kentucky, and it has been the home to more than 25 Kentucky Governors. The National Register of Historic Places added Kentucky’s Governor’s Mansion to the prominent list in 1972.

The Kentucky Governor’s Mansion is greatly loved by Kentuckians, as the residence is also known as The People’s House due to the fact that it also serves as the official residence of the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The People’s House is both a private residence for the Governor and his family and a public building.

At the beginning of this month, Gov. Beshear disrespected the proud possession of every Kentuckian, The People’s House, when he illuminated the mansion in rainbow colors to celebrate “Pride Month.” Gov. Beshear did this in complete disregard for the people of the Commonwealth. Our elected officials who represent us rejected Pride Month in the 2026 Kentucky General Assembly by adopting Senate Resolution 148, which officially recognizes June 2026 as Fidelity Month.

Furthermore, to be blunt, Gov. Beshear clothed the official residence of the people of Kentucky in rainbow colors to celebrate what God has condemned. Gov. Beshear should show some respect for The People’s House by aligning with the people of Kentucky in their rejection of Pride Month and celebrating this month as Fidelity Month. Not only is Gov. Beshear out of step with Kentuckians, but even more importantly, he is out of step with God, who placed him in this position of leadership (Romans 13:1) and to whom Gov. Beshear will one day give an account.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You that Kentucky is observing this month as Fidelity Month. Lord, may Gov. Beshear come to an understanding of Your truth and repent from his disgraceful actions illuminating the Governor’s mansion in rainbow colors to celebrate LGBTQ pride. Father, please enlighten Gov. Beshear to the reality that ultimately You have placed him in this position of authority and that one day he will give an account to You for how he has governed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
