This week, the largest public reading of God’s Word in American history is taking place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. “America Reads the Bible,” which is being livestreamed across the nation, started on Sunday with the public reading of the on the entire Bible, starting with Genesis chapter one. It will conclude on Saturday with the reading of the very end of the Bible, Revelation chapter twenty-two.

Throughout this week, from 9AM to 9PM each day, hundreds of ministry leaders, pastors, elected officials, and highly influential voices across our nation will read God’s Word aloud. In a powerful moment yesterday from the Oval Office, President Trump joined America Reads the Bible and read the Old Testament Scripture of 2 Chronicles 7:11-22.

Today’s reading will start in Ezra chapter seven, and this evening will conclude with the reading of Isaiah chapter nine. The Family Foundation, along with our national ally at Christians Engaged, is blessed to be a sponsor of this important event and is leading a special delegation of leaders from Kentucky. On Saturday, the last day, the Executive Director of The Family Foundation, David Walls, will be reading the Bible, along with the Executive Director of Kentucky Right to Life, Addia Wuchner, and Greg Williams of Love and Lordship.

As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, “America Reads the Bible” is a tremendous opportunity to elevate scripture in American public life, call our nation back to its spiritual foundations, and ignite revival through the power and promise of God’s unchanging Word. The Scriptures, which are sharper than any double edged sword (Heb. 4:12), can cut to the heart of our nation collectively, reviving and transforming us to once again be a nation that follows and seeks the Lord. May this initiative return America as a whole to the spiritual foundation that has made our country the greatest on earth.

LET US PRAY…

Father, please use this week as America Reads the Bible to return us to our spiritual foundation so that we may truly be one nation under You. Lord, may this initiative ignite a revival across our land that will return us to our spiritual heritage and faith in You. Father, may Your Word convict, empower, and grow us as a nation to be one that glorifies You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
