The power of God’s Word, when spoken aloud to hearers, cannot be underestimated, as every word that comes from the Scriptures is “alive and active” (Hebrews 4:12), powerfully revealing God’s heart, truth, correction, and love to those who hear it. The Word of God is powerfully transformative and has the ability, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to turn anyone’s heart to the Lord.
In the book of Nehemiah, the power of God’s spoken Word was on full display. The account reveals that Ezra publicly read the Word of God aloud, and it led the nation of Israel to a place of repentance and then to revival. That revival inspired the nation of Israel to rebuild the Temple and to work with Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls.
America has a chance to experience this type of revival as well. On April 18-25, 2026, the largest public reading of God’s Word in American history will take place, live, from the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., and will be broadcast across the whole nation. The entire Bible will be read aloud by hundreds of ministry leaders and pastors, elected officials, and highly influential voices across our nation, including Franklin Graham, Candace Cameron Bure, David Barton, Sec. Mike Pompeo, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Eric Metaxas, and more than 400 others. The Family Foundation is blessed to be a sponsor of the event and will be leading a special delegation of leaders from Kentucky.
Just ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary, this is a tremendous opportunity to speak the Word of God over our nation as a collective whole, and allow the Scripture, which is sharper than any double edged sword (Heb. 4:12), to cut to the heart of our nation collectively, reviving and transforming us to once again be a nation that follows and seeks the Lord. As America reads the Bible, may it ignite revival flames that cannot be extinguished, and may the revival lead to a nation that can truly be characterized as “One Nation Under God.”

Father, please use the efforts of “America Reads the Bible” to lead our nation to experience revival and transformation through the power of Your Spirit. Lord, we praise You for the power of Your Word and pray that Your Word would penetrate us as Americans during this movement. Father, may the United States be a nation that honors and glorifies You once more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
