Alabama Supreme Court Rules that an Embryo is a Human Being

“Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” – Genesis 2:7

Days ago, the Alabama Supreme Court delivered a massive win for the value and protection of human life in a rather complex case. In 2021, three couples filed lawsuits against the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center because of the mobile hospital’s negligence in caring for the couples’ frozen embryos.

Under the supervision of the mobile hospital the frozen embryos of the three couples were destroyed in an incident that occurred in the laboratory. The case made it up all the way to Alabama’s Supreme Court where it ruled rightly and justly under the law in favor of the couples, that the destroying of the frozen embryos was a wrongful death of human beings.

This ruling highlights an important truth that needs to be pointed out here, and that is, at the point of fertilization a human being exists. The Court’s decision is in alignment with the Scriptural truth that all human life begins at the very moment of one’s conception and should be protected and valued to the highest degree.

Wherever there is a human embryo, there is an image bearer of Almighty God, who has intrinsic worth, and this Court’s decision upholds that truth. Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell. “The Wrongful Death of a Minor Act is sweeping and unqualified. It applies to all children, born and unborn, without limitation. It is not the role of this Court to craft a new limitation based on our own view of what is or is not wise public policy. That is especially true where, as here, the People of this State have adopted a Constitutional amendment directly aimed at stopping courts from excluding ‘unborn life’ from legal protection.”

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for this right and just ruling to protect human life from the Alabama Supreme Court. Lord, may each and every American realize the truth that human life begins at the point of fertilization without exception. Father, empower us to protect and defend human life in every avenue possible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
