Abortion Given Central Focus in the SOTU Address

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. – Genesis 2:7

Recently, President Biden delivered a traditional, time-honored speech to the nation, the State of the Union Address (SOTU). The SOTU Address is an annual speech from the President of the United States to a joint session of the U.S. Congress usually given in the first few months of a new calendar year.

The central focus of President Biden’s speech was clear all throughout, he overwhelmingly focused on the issue of abortion. In the speech, President Biden stated, “If you, the American people, send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again.”

Throughout the speech, the President attacked pro-life Republicans and even those on the U.S. Supreme Court who ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade. In the SOTU Address, the President clearly portrayed himself as a relentless fighter and advocate for “reproductive freedom,” abortion access.

There is no doubt, in the 2024 Presidential campaign, President Biden has made restoring Roe a central part of his re-election campaign. This all serves as a reminder, that although Roe was overturned, the battle to protect and defend every human life is far from being over.

LET US PRAY…

Father, empower Your people to stand strong in the battle to protect and defend every human life from the horror of abortion. Lord, please open President Biden’s spiritual eyes to the reality that abortion is the murder of innocent life. Father, may America one day be a land where every human life is truly cherished.
