A Highly Concerning Trend

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.” – Ephesians 5:3

Gallup has just released a new survey, that from a Biblical point of view, reveals a highly concerning trend. The survey showed that Americans who identify as LGBT have not just crept up in recent years, but have literally doubled over the past decade.

In 2012, Gallup officially started collecting data on LGBT identification in the United States. It was found in that year that 3.5 percent of Americans identified as LGBT. Now, just over a decade later, 7.2 percent of Americans now identify as LGBT.

What is immensely alarming is the fact that there is a much higher percentage of people who constitute Generation Z that are identifying as LGBT than in any other generation. In fact, 19.7 percent of members who are in Generation Z identify as LGBT, that is nearly one out of five people now in Generation Z identify as LGBT.

These alarming statistics must not cause believers to fall into a realm of apathy. Rather, these findings should serve as a loud call to action, to winsomely engage all Americans, especially younger Americans, to see that God’s plan for human sexuality is the path that leads to the greatest level of human flourishing and fulfillment.

We must remind our culture, that engaging in lifestyles that the Bible calls sinful will never lead to fulfillment and satisfaction, that only comes when we align our lives with the word of God, and in this case aligning one’s life with the Bible’s teaching on human sexuality.

LET US PRAY…

Father, empower us with Your Spirit to effectively engage our culture for You and Your truth. Lord, may we be winsome in our effort to reveal to our world that only through Your design of human sexuality can one find true fulfillment and satisfaction and not in sinful lifestyles. Father, may marriage truly be honored throughout our land. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
