“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” – Proverbs 31:8
Right now, the United States Congress is discussing a possible extension of the pandemic-era expansion of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, as the provisions will expire by the end of the year. Unfortunately, part of the provisions being debated includes taxpayer subsidies for elective abortions.
In an effort to stop the forced taxpayer funding of abortion through Obamacare, eighty-eight pro-life organizations have come together in a joint letter demanding that Congress oppose the taxpayer subsidies that fund abortions. The letter specifically urges pro-life members of Congress to oppose any expansion of Obamacare that does not apply the Hyde Amendment to the program, which would ensure that American taxpayers will not pay for abortions.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is the group spearheading this effort, and the group’s President, Marjorie Dannenfelser, stated, “The American people clearly don’t want to be in the business of subsidizing the violence of abortion. Sixty percent of voters, including Democrats, pro-choice voters, and the majority of independents, oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.” She also went on to say, “This pro-life Congress must not further extend Obama and Biden’s legacy of taxpayer-funded subsidies that end the lives of countless unborn children.”
Americans should never be indirectly forced to fund the egregious and murderous act of abortion just because they are faithful tax-paying citizens. This must end! While Congress would be wise to end Obamacare altogether, it must at minimum ensure that any remaining policies do not fund the abortion cartel.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we pray that the U.S. Congress will use this moment to end Obamacare’s taxpayer-funding of abortion. Lord, we are thankful for all the organizations that are a part of this effort that continuously and diligently fight for the value of every human life. Father, may we always “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
