The Bible calls believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to be bold, courageous, dedicated, and joyful soldiers for Him. As soldiers for the Lord, we are to fight the good fight (2 Timothy 4:7-8) by allowing our lives to shine God’s truth and love to our society around us.
Soldiers for Christ must train and prepare for battle. Every day we are engaging in spiritual warfare with the Enemy (1 Peter 5:8) and other spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12) as we stand for Biblical truth in a world that opposes the Lord’s ways. We must put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), which includes truth, righteousness, faith, and the Word. We must do this to stand firm against these spiritual forces of evil that threaten to engulf our culture.
Soldiers for Christ are never placed in the reserves, waiting to be called on to become active in the work of influencing our culture for righteousness. Soldiers for Christ are always in active-duty service. We are commanded by King Jesus to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) as we battle with evil forces and share the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
May we soldier on for the Lord with joy and courage, knowing that the Lord simply asks for faithfulness. We must engage our world to make our King’s truth known. Let us confidently know that in each battle we are in for the Lord’s cause, that we are always on the winning side. The war is already over, as Christ Jesus won it on the cross of Calvary when He defeated sin, death, and evil forces forever.
LET US PRAY…
Father, empower us to be active and faithful soldiers for You in this world that is full of darkness and sin. Lord, may we be Your instruments to shine the truth of the Gospel in this lost world. Father, we praise You that the war has already been won by Jesus Christ, and as we engage in spiritual battles, may we do so confidently knowing that we are on the winning side. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
