PRESS RELEASE: Group says Bevin right to crack down on illegal abortions

LEXINGTON, KY—”Once again we have discovered that illegal abortions have been occurring in Kentucky while the people who talk about how dangerous they are were looking the other way,” said a spokesman for The Family Foundation today about another abortion clinic being sued by the Bevin administration for performing abortions without proper authorization.
Martin Cothran, spokesman for the group, lauded the Bevin administration for doing what previous administrations said they were doing but weren’t — acting to protect the health of women. “Despite all the rhetoric about protecting the health of women we now find out that the health of women took a back seat to someone’s ideological agenda.”
The abortion clinic, EMW Women’s Clinic in Lexington, is the second unlicensed abortion clinic the Bevin administration has taken to court for operating without state authorization. “Abortion mills whose business it is to take the lives of unborn children should not be allowed to operate with little or no regulatory oversight,” said Cothran.
“Women in Kentucky are owed an explanation as to why their interests were sacrificed for political convenience.”
